RRU's Dogwood Auditorium: A geoexchange success story

In 2021, Royal Roads University transformed an aging facility into a cutting-edge auditorium with sustainability at its heart. Originally constructed as a swimming pool for the former Royal Roads Military College (1959-early 2000s), the building was protected by footing drains beneath the foundation that controlled a local high groundwater table. This groundwater, intercepted by the original drain system, was redirected to become a geoexchange energy source for efficiently heating and cooling the transformed facility.
