Cascade Institute Ultradeep Geothermal Science Lead Rebecca Pearce reveals why geothermal energy—on the verge of providing clean heat and baseload power anywhere on Earth—remains one of the world's most underutilized renewable resources.
In this illuminating TEDx at Royal Roads University talk, she breaks down the science behind enhanced geothermal systems and exposes how our short-term thinking prevents us from embracing a technology whose benefits will empower future generations.
This compelling presentation challenges audiences to shift their perspective on long-term energy investments and consider geothermal's transformational potential to be the backbone of the clean energy transition.
As our energy demand continues to rise and the climate crisis looms ever larger, there's an urgent need to bring down fossil fuel emissions. My TED talk highlights how we still have options to solve this immense global challenge. We've turned to the sun, the rivers, the seas, the wind, but there's also tremendous power beneath our feet. Geothermal holds enormous potential to provide clean, constant, reliable energy to our grid for thousands of generations to come. This is my rallying cry to unleash geothermal power to solve our climate and energy crises.
