It examines geothermal technologies for both heat and electricity generation, analyzing current industry status, promising technological innovations, potential environmental impacts, and critical policy strategies needed to advance the sector.
Recent technological advances have transformed geothermal energy from a marginal renewable option to a potentially game-changing power source. These innovations have dramatically expanded the capabilities of geothermal, positioning it to become a significant contributor to global electricity generation. By 2050, experts project geothermal could supply 8% of worldwide electricity needs, emerging as the third-largest source of power growth in the global renewable energy landscape.
